Berks Home On Extreme Makeover Home Edition Airs Sunday

Posted: 10:57 pm EDT October 15, 2010

People can't wait to see Berks County hit national television next Sunday on ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Kind of embraces the emotion that I have of my old house and captures the essence of it, said Extreme Makeover Home Edition winner Trisha Urban. It's a wonderful memory and it's not too bold and it's not too bright. Urban's new home was built by hundreds of local volunteers this summer. Her original home in Tilden Township has been captured in multiple forms of artwork. It's made out of my old house and it's a keepsake box, said Urban. At the Goggleworks you can see what was created. What she can't say is where the artwork is located. You won't find that out until you watch the show, said Urban. I can guess where this piece of artwork is in the home but the rest of it - not so easy. The location of this portrait is absolutely perfect cause as soon as you open the door you see these bright big eyes just staring at you, Urban said. Cora's dad Andy died the day she was born. This over here is a book that Jeff also created that holds an iPad that has special message for Cora for when Cora is a little bit older about her daddy, said Urban. And that tragedy is what brought so many Berks Artists together. Trisha says she wants people to see some of the artwork she now owns and allow the artists to shine. The show will be next Sunday and encourage people to come out because the show just doesn't do justice to the artwork you have to actually come out and see it, said Urban. All the money that is being raised at this event is going to Opportunity House and the HBA Restoring Hope Foundation, said Dean Ramich, President of the HBA of Berks County. The HBA Restoring Hope Foundation will be giving mini- extreme makeovers to other deserving people. We want somebody like Trish that even though she went through the hardships she went through she never gave up she never quit still gave back to the community, said Ramich He says what so many people felt that week can happen again. We won't have Ty and his blow horn and that's not a problem, said Ramich. It doesn't need to happen for ABC Extreme Makeover this can happen in the community with just everybody coming together. The art show is from 9-4 Saturday at The Goggleworks. Copyright 2010 WFMZ. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
